Did You Ask God?

There are times in all our lives when we must make decisions and we’re unsure about what to do and how we should do it as well as where we should go or should we go. It is in these moments that we should be very careful to seek God and see what He has to say on the matter.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. You see we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, believing and knowing that He is Wiser than us, that He Knows what is best, and that He is Able to do all things but fail. As it is written in Mark 7:37, “He has done all things well.” Those who know themselves, at some point in their lives find that their own understanding is limited and no better than a fragile twig that is easily broken under the weight of decision. So, we must be careful not to lean or depend on our own understanding of how things should be handled or approached, but rather lean on God’s ways.

This scripture reminds us that we must remember the Lord in all that we do. Before we come to Christ, we live our lives trusting in our own understanding and our own ways of dealing with or handling things. We are used to trusting in our own intellect and experiences. We are used to trusting in the advice of others. Many times, we run to other people seeking their advice and we go to those people asking them what they think. However, we are supposed to trust in God more than we trust in ourselves or others because God is the one who actually knows the path ahead of us and which path each decision will take us down. So, here we are instructed to consider God in all that we do. That’s what it means to “acknowledge Him in all your ways” as it is written in Proverbs 3:6. The Scripture goes on to tell us that when we acknowledge God in all our ways, He will direct our paths. So, if you want your Paths to be directed by God, then consider Him/consider what He has to say about everything that you do. Ask God what He thinks about it? Whatever it is…Ask Him! If you want to direct your own paths then do what you want. Likewise, if you want other people to direct your paths then ask them what they think. But if you want God to direct your paths, then seek His counsel. Stop going to people for advice who possess no godly wisdom. Stop seeking the advice of people who don’t know God and who are not living for God. Stop asking people who are living outside of God’s will for their advice.

You must know that every decision that you make should be a decision that gets you closer to your God ordained Destiny according to God’s will. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has a plan for your life and He knows how to get you to the fulfillment of His plan for your life. Trust Him and ask Him about it.
